German Shorthaired Pointer on point with ptarmigan in Norwegian mountain landscape

Kingsford Kennel

Welcome to the Journey

I'm Teddy Kingsford Miller, and this is Kingsford Kennel—a passion project born from a deep love of bird hunting and working dogs in the heart of Norway.

Based in Rjukan, with the rugged mountains and vast plateaus as our training ground, I'm documenting the journey of training exceptional hunting dogs for ptarmigan (rype) in some of the most challenging and beautiful terrain in the world.

This isn't a commercial breeding operation. It's a personal space to share what I'm learning, celebrate the dogs who make this lifestyle possible, and connect with others who understand that the hunt is about so much more than the harvest—it's about the partnership, the landscape, and the deep respect for working dogs doing what they were born to do.

Right now, my focus is entirely on Brage, my German Shorthaired Pointer, who's deep in training for his first full ptarmigan season. Every weekend in the highlands, every training session, every breakthrough—this is what Kingsford Kennel is built on.

Meet Brage

Our GSP in Training

Brage is a young German Shorthaired Pointer with drive, intelligence, and a nose that's getting sharper every week. We're currently deep in ptarmigan-specific training, working the high country around Rjukan where the birds test every skill a bird dog can have.

He's learning to handle the thin air at altitude, the rocky terrain, and the challenge of ptarmigan that can flush at 100 meters or hold tight until you're practically stepping on them. His natural pointing instinct is strong, and we're refining his range, steadiness, and retrieve.

Every session brings new lessons—for both of us. Follow his progress, see his personality shine, and experience the training journey through the Member Access area.

Planning for Tomorrow, Training for Today

Kingsford Kennel is currently in a planning and evaluation phase when it comes to breeding.

The possibility of future puppies exists—whether through Brage or potentially introducing another hunting breed to the kennel—but I'm not rushing into decisions. Quality, temperament, working ability, and responsible breeding practices matter far more than timelines.

Right now, my energy is focused on Brage's development as a hunting partner. If and when the time comes to consider breeding, it will be with the same care, research, and passion that guides everything at Kingsford Kennel.

For now, join me in celebrating the training process, the hunts, and the deep satisfaction of working with a dog who loves his job as much as I love mine.
